L is for Laundry

I'm out of clean underwear and socks. I know y'all wanted to know that so very much so you're welcome. This means it's time to do laundry. So that's what I'm doing today. And while I'm waiting for the machines to do their thing, I browsed the web and I found these cute vintage laundry signs.

I want this in my laundry room

This one's cute  :)

Only 25 cents? Where did those times go?

This makes me glad we have machines

Speaking of machines...I think  I heard them stop...that means it's time to go.

In other news: it's snowed last night and hasn't stopped....we're up to about 10 inches.

C is for Canada

When I moved to Canada this past January, I realize that many of you thought this is what I live with:

You would be wrong.

 Close.

But wrong.

Also that I live in one of these

Also wrong.

That it looks like this year round:

As cool as it would be to actually go to Narnia, we don't live here either.

So,  again wrong - sorry.

And last but not least, that I see these everyday and we hunt them regularly.

And Again. Wrong.

The closest thing to animals I live with are these monkeys:

They make a lot of noise and are incredibly silly

But you can't beat the cuteness factor

And while it did look like this for a while:

And I dressed like this occasionally

It now looks much more like this:

And I have seen one moose, but generally, the closest I get to them is this:

They are not so completely uncivilized here.

There is plenty of this to be had

And I get to live with one of my best friends.

She's pretty.

So yeah. There ya be.

In other news: the rest of my family minus one sister are on their way. They should be here tonight.

Friday Things

Well, it's time for the weekend. And honestly, I'm really glad to see it here. More glad to see a weekend than normal. This week has been kinda stressful in different ways but all is good, because God is faithful.

I'm doing my top five again for this week! I thought this was a cute idea at first just to share some special moments from the week, but considering this week, it's a good reminder to me to look at the blessings that happened to me this week instead of dwelling on anything negative.

#1 *Best Thing*  I talked to my daddy on skype for about an hour this week. Even being a thousand miles away, he always has the right things to say and knows how to make me feel better.

#2 My friend lent me a dress for a birthday party that I'm going to tonight since I hadn't packed anything of the semi-formal category when I moved up here. I went to hang it up in my closet and lo and behold! I had packed something! One of my faves - a navy blue number that I love. The thing is though...I don't remember packing it!  (do you believe in packing fairies...)

#3 Found this in my purse
    *love*

#4 Found out something exciting this week about next week. I'm not sure I can say what it is yet but I will let you know soon! :)

# 5 Rediscovered this duo - Rodrigo Y Gabriela

Check out this music video. Its pretty spectacular.

Did you have a good week??

A Collection of Observations After Living In Canada for Two Months

  1. Speed limits on the highways are not really limits...they're more like 'guidelines'. The same applies to  parking spots, and handicapped parking spaces.
  2. 80mph is not fast enough on the highway. Apparently.
  3. Your windshield will have at least 2 large rock chips in it, if not a huge crack running the entire windshield
  4. Freezing nose hairs tickle
  5. People don't panic about driving in blizzard conditions or on ice
  6. I don't panic when driving in a blizzard or on ice anymore
  7. Don't ever tease someone by yelling "Moose!!!" while they're driving. You might be joking, but the chances of it being true are actually surprisingly high
  8. I can't get lost in this town...this is a good thing.
  9. I need a lot more practice snowboarding.
  10. There is an art to shoveling one's driveway. I have yet to master it.
  11. People don't know that a Vancouver outside of British Columbia exists...Canadians get very confused when you tell them you're from Vancouver, WA...good luck with that.
  12. Do yourself a favor and stop before all logging truck roads.
  13. After a week of -30* (or lower) weather,  4* feels warm and makes you want to break out the tank tops and shorts. Almost.
  14. If you're in the least bit pretty, people with stare at you when you go places. I realize this might sound a bit conceited but there have been times when people stare at me like I suddenly sprouted a second nose...
  15. Canadians are nice. Mostly.  ;-)
